When I got my Iggy 14 years ago, I ended up picking out the biggest, most alert one at the pet store. I have a El Salvador Blue, and I also made sure he had bright colorings, but I'm not sure if that matters.
With the calcium stuff, he would never touch any food that had powder on it, so I had to buy the calcium misting spray. (I think ZooMed makes it.) The first few years I gave him the T-Rex Iguana food mix as a biweekly treat. But mostly he ate vegetables, fruits, and chicken.

why dont you adopt instead of buying? Adoption saves an ig that may otherwise be euthanized. igs should NOT BE FED ANY ANIMAL PROTEIN!

go to the green ig society they have an adoption board that you can see your state and check on any available iguanas they have.

Why shouldn't iguanas be fed animal protein? I've had my iggy for 14 yrs and the only problem that we ever had with him is that he climbed up a tree once a few years ago and the fire dept had to get him down. We give him chicken or seniro dog food a few times a week, and the vet has said that he is the healthiest iguana she's seen.

I wouldn't trust Ectotherm diets. Many of their foods poor quality filler foods, and some of thier diets even have ingredients that shouldn't be fed to specific animals - such as powdered milk! My bearded dragon grew up with Rep-Cal, so I trust it. I've been told I have one of the biggest female dragons that some people have seen (and she's NOT a German Giant).

Try www.anapsid.org to find a rescue near you, or visit www.petfinder.com to see if there is an iguana for adoption near you. Rescues get in babies, too.
