I just woke my tegu up from brumation, like beardiedragon said, because he is to young. Today he ate 1 lrg cricket, and didnt seem interested in the rest, is it because he is groggy and not interested in food at the moment and will change in a few days? or is it something worse, he still looks well hydrated, and healthy weight.

thanks
tony butler

It's normal for a tegu. His metabolism isn't back to normal yet.

thanks for the reply, thought I was the only one still a wake, so should I keep feeding him every day, and I heard he may take fruits before he takes crix, or pinkies, and my tegu is a huge fruit fan, loves grapes, bananas and mangos

thanks

I personally don't give my young black & white tegus much fruit at all. I will on occassion, give them a little as a treat, but it's more of a sample or little taste then part of their actual diet. I feed crix(dusted), superworms(dusted), mealworms(dusted), pinkies, & very very seldom a bite of banana, grape, apple, etc.
