Types of screening for chameleon cage

mellowyellow Jul 02, 2003 12:59 PM

I'm constructing a chameleon cage and was wondering what type of screen to use. I have some replacement aluminum screening for sliding glass doors and was thinking about using that. Could crickets chew through the aluminum screening? Is it safe to use? What other types of screening could I use? Any and all help will be appreciated, thank you.

I have built several cages myself. Ideally, you should try to use a PVC coated screen, but these are hard to come by, and can more costly. Any aluminum screen type will work, but I prefer using charcoal covered aluminum. NEVER use the fiberglass screen, the fiberglass can have tiny splinters that can cause your cham a great deal of pain. Don't worry, as long as its sealed properly, there is no chance in hell of a cricket, or any bug for that matter, escaping!
