lighting pyxie id

chizzow Dec 11, 2004 05:29 AM

is it ok to use an infrared heat lamp for pyxies and pacmans to raise the temp 24hrs a day? i know these are ideal for nocturnal species but it seems like my frogs still recognize the red light as daylight.

also i tried the search function but whats the best way to differentiate a dwarf pyxie from a giant?

thanks

Danny

Its bad to use lighting heat source for frogs because it drys out there skin.. a trick tho is to put angle a board in the tank and make sure it cant get behind it and shine the light onto that board that way heat builds up on the board and heats the tank but the light keeps from hitting the frog, make sure the board is atleast 4 inches away from the glass/screen so theres enough area for heat to build up in the tank.
