My frozen feeders thawed out - should I throw them away or re-freeze?!?...

Antegy Dec 11, 2004 06:45 AM

I keep all of my frozen feeders in a small chest freezer - which got mistakenly unplugged for more than a day. When I came to realize it wasn't running I checked the feeders inside. They were all thawed, but still quite cold, as they would have been if they were in a refrigerator. I turned the freezer back on and everything is re-frozen now.

Is it okay that everything thawed out for a while, or does this mean that I should throw away my stock of feeders now?

Thanks,
- Mark

Make sure that they don't end up with freezer burn. From what I understand with our food once you thaw it and re-freeze it you might end up with bad freezer burn. Good Luck.

I re-froze a rat once and the second time i thawed it out it was kinda rubbery and didnt seem all that good...i tossed it. It was also warmed up to the appropriate temp so maybe since yours never got warm it will be different
