Hi all,
I am having difficulty find a carrier to ship live reptiles. All of them require me to open an account, which will cost me a lot of money. Do you guys have any suggestions for folks like me who wants to ship live reptiles without opening an account?
Another question is that will the animal survive if they are placed with other regular cargo. They told me that live animal will be place in a pressurized compartment. Is this true? Thanks.

You can open an Airborne account and it will not cost you anything except for what you ship. They will ship reptiles as their policy sttes that they allow Tortoises and Crabs but most locations will allow the shipment even if they know it is reptiles other than Tortoises. None of the carriers except Delta will insure and honor the insurance in the case that something happened to the animal is transit. Personally I use UPS and have an account with them but usually in order to ship reptiles through them legally you must meet their requirements.

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to ship a monitor. I called Airborne express and UPS. Did they lie to me when they said that live animal are seperate from the regular cargo? Thanks

UPS & Airborne ship their live shipments and perishables in temp controlled environments. Their entire cargo area is pressurized so there is no worry there. They are not in the same area as normal cargo but rather in a special area (at least on UPS planes).
