I was wondering what Humidity do you keep your guyana boas, because of their location. Whats the best substrait to use to keep the humidity up or would using a humidity box inside the enclosure work the best???
thanks

although your boa may do fine at lower levels I've found that proper humidity levels promote optimal health. The animal will be more likely to breed, feed regularly, and even it's "skin" will take on a healthier appearance. You can accomplish these humidity levels in a number of ways. One method is to mist the enclosure every other day but be sure to allow the entire cage to dry out before misting again to prevent fungal overgrowth. Another method is to use a substrate such as Bed-A-Beast which will hold moisture well. This substrate does not allow fungus to grow but again the susbstrate should be allowed to dry every other day or so since you don't want your animal to be constantly laying on wet substrate. A large water dish will elevate humidity as will limiting ventilation (with seran wrap) to keep the humidity in. Lastly, if you have a large collection, a room humidifier will work great. You can set the desired humidity level on the unit and that's it. You can purchase one at a store like Sears for about $70. This is the method I use with an occasional misting to simulate rain.----RON
there are certain sections of Guyana where the average humidity can be in the 70-85% range. With this said, if you were to keep your levels around 70% you'll be just fine.----RON
