how can i get a whites treefrog to...

Jul 02, 2003 01:15 PM

eat pinkies and night crawlers? I know its not natural, and a whites treefrog would never come in contact with a baby mouse in the wild, but I think my frog needs more variety. I still think he's a bit skinny but usualy after 2-3 crickets he would stop and ignore all the other crickets.

aLSO,at night he jumps all over the place and is very active, is this normal? he sleeps most of the day.

I feed my White's in a container seperate from his tank. In like a 6 x 4 tupperware dish. Ill put him in there(he knows what this means by now) and just put the food in with him, when he sees it wiggling around, hell go for it,or he should atleast. I've gotten my White's to eat a pinkie, but I'd only do it once every 3 months or so, because it only took the one to make him overweight.Do this at night, when the frog is already awake, dont worry the pinkie will squirm around. Same for nightcrawlers, just put them in with him,(only one or two-theyre fatty) he should go for them. If he isnt eating and is getting skinny, even if you offer him food, maybe he just cant find it or has something wrong with him.If hes really active at night,it can be okay. Does he do regular things like soak and sit in a usual spot? Or does he try to escape?good luck.

he only eats 2 crickets per day! most of the tiem he wont eat everyday. I know feeidng everyday isnt right, but he's really skinny. he doesnt look unhealthy or anything, and sits in ihs water bowl and on this rock and behind the leaves every night.

i tried feeding him a pinkie once but he ignored it, even thought it was right infront of him and moving around.

How big is your frog? I have never seen larger white's turn down worms or pinkies. My female takes a little while to do, but if you give her some privacy she'll eat. My male will eat out of your hand.
