I got 2 new uros!!!

Herperboy Dec 11, 2004 01:44 PM

They are both just malis, but i still think they are really cool. The male is really big and black, with an awsome herringbone pattern. The female (i think) is only about 8 inches long and is really pretty speckled tan color. And the best part about it is that they were FREE! I got them from a vet tech at my Vet's office because he couldnt keep them in his office, and since he works for the vet they had already been checked out and had a clean bill of health. Im still working on trying to post pics.

2.1 Uromastyx maliensis
0.1 Uromastyx aegyptius
0.1 Pogona Vitticeps
4.0 Python regius
0.1 Boa constirctor constrictor (Guyana)
12 turtles and tortoises

Sweet! Good deal. I'll raise you two, though I dropped into LLL Reptile in Oceanside this morning and I walked out with four beautiful plump Hardwickie CH juvies. I can't do this every month!
One of them has already proven its architectural skills by pushing some stacked slate tiles out of the way to make a better hide after moving the food dish trying to do the same thing.
I'll try to get some pictures this week once they become more sociable as they're really little monsters to handle right now. Snorts, grunts, inflated bellies, thrashing tails and all. I'm glad they don't show teeth!

oh dear, just make sure they can't crush each other with the rocks!
do you live in oceanside? i live in san diego and was about to go up to LLL the other day

I don't see it being a problem. I'll just need to see what their mentality is and accommodate it. The Saharans I got seem to be either bright or experienced enough to know where they will fit. This guy was trying to fit into every crevice and crack. He's sleeping in the same position as earlier with only his head and shoulders covered- the rest of the body and tail are hanging out for all to see. Probably not very advantageous in the wild.

Nope, Oceanside is a jaunt for me- I'm up near Irvine. Today was a toss-up between the show in Pomona or just going down to the store since I knew what I was looking for anyhow. Havign gone to Carson yesterday and going to Carson again on Sunday, I figured a southern trip was in order. The sale going on at the store was a pleasant bonus
