Breeding season update on Ozzy...........

Iguanamom Dec 11, 2004 03:02 PM

I think maybe we are nearing the end of breeding season. He has finally started to eat more, went from only take a few bites a day, to eating two bowlfulls yesterday. His colors are also changing a bit. Not as much orange and blues. Im just so excited he is eating again. He is still eating all the fruit off first, but is eating the greens and veggies also. I did just find a new treat he loves and thats blackberrys. I found some at the store that are just huge and he loves them, but makes a mess of himself with them, its sort of cute. He has a blackberry mustache, lol. He also doesnt seem to be pacing or trying to escape near as much. So maybe does this mean we are nearing the end? Im still very on guard when dealing with him, even though he hasnt really been agressive, i know that potential is always there. We are finally getting ready to put our xmas tree up, i dont think i will be letting ozzy do much free roaming till we take it down. Cause i can see right now he would head straight for the tree, lol. Im curious how those of you that have free roamers handle having a xmas tree and keeping them away from it. Well hope everyone is surviving breeding season. Take care. Tami

I'm glad you seem to be nearing the end of breeding season! Forest won't eat hardly a all still but he's drinking tons & pottying so I guess I'm not flipping out right now. Sure hope he starts eating well soon! I'm glad your is!

I also wondered about the Christmas tree thing. We have a fake tree so maybe that makes a difference & the fact that Forest is big & fat so maybe that changes things too but he hasn't tried to climb it. He went straight for it the other day after we set it up but he just crawled WAY up under it & laid there on the tree skirt for an hour or so. I had to laugh at him. I guess he thought he was WELL hidden!...and he was except for the three feet of tail that was sticking out. You couldn't see the rest of him. LOL.

He didn't try & climb & hasn't went near it since.

How do you other ig owners deal with that??? Would make some great pictures on here if you could catch them in the act. LOL
Our boy is just so big, he'd topple the tree if he tried.

Let's hear some stories & see some pics!

Trying to blend in. Is it working?

What iguana, where? Your just screwing with us are't you. Take a picture and say there is an ig in it, but there really isn't. For shame, for shame!!! Maybe you should make a Where's Waldo sort of book for herp lovers...make a fortune. jrbl

My ig always climbs the Christmas tree every year. He's worse than the cats, cause he likes to go to the very top of the tree, and then it collapses and he goes with it. And he likes to like the sap off the real trees. I'm not sure that's so good for him though.
