Just a funny thought...

toshamc Dec 11, 2004 04:09 PM

I was reading a classified ad for a snake that was $20K plus $35 overnight shipping and this thought crossed my mind, I thought it was funny. Now keeping in mind that anyone that could afford to spend $20K or $50K on a snake would probably not think twice about the $35 for shipping, but I think if someone were going to give me that much money, I'd comp them the shipping charge. I mean really how stingy do you have to be to really want that extra $35? And it's not just this one ad, it's all over the place. I can see if you're only spending a couple hundred or even a thousand, but tens of thousands of dollars!??

I don't know, to me it was funny, so I thought I'd share my opinion on a slow day.

35 for shipping? You better bet I'm not having DHL, UPS or FedEx play basketball with the box containing my $20,000 ball python! Heck, for that kind of mioney, I'd fly out to the breeder and pick the little guy up myself, or at least make them do Delta dash.

Dash only insures up to $750.
In order to insure for the full amount on an expensive
animal, you need to send it Priority (...if you're using
Delta). Priority usually takes a couple more hours
compared to Dash, because they require a 4hr layover
for connecting flights.

This is bad. I would definatly pay the shipping if someone bought a 20 grand snake from me. Probally would pay the shipping if someone bought a 2 grand snake. Some people are just money hungry.

If someone made an offer of $15,000 shipped for an animal advertised for $20,000 $35 shipping, it's sold.

I wouldn't ship it at all when you get into that amount of money.....

there are plenty of people and ways to buy them in person...

yes....if someone has a $30,000 on the table...and you show them $20,000.....they'll take it........

I won't ship ......it sux......as in the package they dropped off at my house a day late ...after it spent the night at a college in Virginia.........wrong label....wrong packages......*(the baby gater came here for an extra day before going on to Va)).......
