Plastic Plants???

boogernsnot Dec 11, 2004 04:12 PM

I was wondering.. if i buy those plastic plants from wal mart and rinse them and put them into the water. I am sure that my turtle will TRY to eat them... but will they eventually leave them alone? i wouldnt want my turtles to actually bite a piece off and get sick from it?!?! all responses are welcomed!

Both my adult and juv. sliders have plastic plants in the tanks for privacy/decoration and have not had any problems with them. When the plants first went in the tank they sniffed and might have tried to take a nip, but instantly knew "nope, not food" and since have seen them as just any other piece of tank furniture. As long as the plant doesn't have any little decorative bits on it that could detach and get swallowed whole, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. So, plant away!

Just dont get any silk plants, turtles will eat them. Plastic ones are fine.

i wasnt going to get silky ones... i was going to get the ones that go in aquariums for fish tanks and such... they have red and blue at ollies (with suction cups on them) so i can attach them into the tank, though i doubt this will matter because my turtles will probably move them around anyways... haha thanks for all the responses!! i appreciate it....
