How to Hibernate her?

HerperHelmz Dec 11, 2004 04:27 PM

I have an adult female leopard gecko, she just shed, and last ate a pinky mouse from my hand a couple days ago. How should I go about hibernating her?

I want to brumate her so that I can get a break from feeding her, the majority of my herp collection consists of small snakes, which right now are all in hibernation, or about to go. For the other herps, like small turtles and other snakes, need heatpads. So I pretty much need the heat pad that is occupying the gecko.

dude, no offence, but if you want to brumate her, i dont think your ready for a leo. they come from a place where they dont need to brumate. its really not natural for them.

I agree. Just because you want a break from feeding her? That's crazy.

Don't forget, leos don't do a true "hibernate", they Brumate. Difference being with brumation they slow down eating but remain alert and somewhat active, where with hibernation they don't eat at all and basically sleep for a few months.

But again, it's not really necessary for leos (I don't cool mine at all)
