Is this normal?

Orocosos Dec 11, 2004 05:53 PM

My RES is still behaving normally. The water temperature remains between 74 to 76. However, he will not eat. Is this normal during the winter months? What should I do?

Check your basking temp...it should be somewhere between 85-90. (Opinions vary.) Cooler temps do sometimes cause a slow down in eating. If your basking temp is fine, then check back with all of the basic stats for your tank set up, what he usually is fed, and on what schedule...that info might help the gang here troubleshoot other causes.

Hope this is helpful!

Also remember along with keeping things in check that they can go upto a month without eating and sometimes they dont feel hungry at all then all of a sudden they will eat anything and everything. But if your water temps are fine and they dont seem tired you might want to spark their interests a bit also by adding a few fish or whatever to keep them busy or atleast entertained with them and awake from feeling lazy.
