How much to feed...

ryjspahr Dec 11, 2004 07:38 PM

Hi there all, I am curious... I've kept a variety of pythons and boas for the last 7 years... Anyhow, I have had my big albino female for 13 months now and she is currently 13-14 feet in length and about 100 lbs. According to info I got from the guy who gave her to me she is between 5-6 years old and a total sweetheart!

My question is how often should I feed her? Right now I am feeding 8lb frozen/thawed rabbits every two weeks and that seems to work, I know she could eat more... the thing is, she appears almost a little fat...and I have heard an obese burm can lead to fertility problems and I was hoping to breed here next year.

Anyone have any insight... opinions... stories?

Thanks,
Ryan Spahr

how many rabbits are you feeding every two weeks?
If she looks fat she probobly is.

If your feeding 8lb rabbits try feeding every 3 weeks. Since she is so big and I doubt she has a room size cage to move around in, she will become very fat from sitting around all day. I have an 11-12 ft male burm that I feed a 4 lb rabbit every 2 weeks, only because he was a problem feeder and needed to gain weight.
