what is the best way to keep humidity in my tank?
2 things you can do.
1) control the air flow by covering the cage.
Either use a board, celophane, aluminum foil, (depending on your heating method).
The humidity is escaping into your room, and by lowering the air exchange between the cage and the room, you can then control the humidity in the cage. The more of the cage you cover, the more humidity you will get.
2)control what is giving off the humidity in the first place. (if a water bowl, use a larger one. If damp bedding, use more bedding so it holds more moisture longer, or use more porus bedding so the water can evaporate faster/better due to more effective surface area) You can even place the water dish over a bottom heating device, so the water will be warmer and evaporate faster (but I wouldn't recommend this due to increased bacterial growth in the water, fire risks, etc.)
the first method is a lot easier, but it depends on your set-up.
