My PTS setup

NYALAN Dec 11, 2004 10:07 PM

Hi, been lurking on all the forums and finally figured out how to post. here is a pic of the setup I have for my PTS. 2 females one male and a new set of twins. The other female is due to drop very soon. This setup is in my loft and they seem to really have a good time roaming up there. It is misted 10 min. every hour and the bottom half (which I will try to post a full pic soon) has plants for them to roam in too. Overall it is 14 ft tall. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. so far no problems but if you see something that could be made better, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for comments and thanks for the great forums.

Alan

sorry, still figuring this uploading thing out. can create a skink tree but can't get a decent pic on the web, go figure.

Wow!!! Very creative! It would make me want to climb up in that 'tree' myself to sneak a peak at a resting skink. Are you just setting this up now? The plants look pretty new. Please tell us more about what the other plant is that doesn't look like Pothos (Epipremnum aureum). Do I see a blue dish for water mid shot? How do you feed and where? The misting system must increase humidity in the room, yes? That's good for all inhabitants but probably not books or other things.

Take care and many thanks for taking the time to show us your skink's world.

Hi,
What is your skink tree made of? It lokks like PVC covered in colored cement or something. Am I right? Are they confined in any way, or do they just have free range of that whole room? They can't reach any of the electrical stuff, can they? I don't think the humidity would be too good for all your little statues, or your wood floor. Are those tin ceiling tiles? They are really nice. josh

You have statues from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and India.I lived in all these countries (im living in New Delhi now) and i have such statues at home too!Where did you get them?)

I actually made a 2.5 foot tall acrylic wall and floor around the whole setup. doesn't really look bad, as a matter of fact, if you look close, it is in the pic. The humidity doesn't affect anything else in the room. I think because all the plants really hold the moisture and the room is so large I don't have a problem in the house.
The "tree" is all different size pvc covered with silicone and coco bark (same as I use for my frog setups) I change the plants out (just pothos) out every 2 weeks or so, and cut the old ones back to regrow. The blue dish is food and there is a glazed terra cotta soaking pool on the other side. Brackets are just metal flower pot holders.
I use the Pro Mist misting system and it RULES !!!! such a nice fine mist.
By the way, brought the statues with me after living in Thailand.
