Collaredkeeper Dec 11, 2004 10:24 PM

Well, here is my cricket caging setups. Should produce never ending supply of Crickets. Hopefully letting me get some more lizards.
Tony

Notice they book tape keeping the crickets from crawling out.

This is a more refined setup cage. This is the last stop for the crickets, either being bred or fed off. This is where they are also packed full of their nutrition.

I have just got this down. I just throw some female adult crickets and a few males in and they do the rest. They are loaded with the green cricket crystals and greens. I usually stick to good dogfood and the green crystals for all the crickets, and maybe some carrots.
Tony

You can somewhat notice the female laying.

Just curious... do you crush the dog food or throw it in whole?

crickets can be seen taking a whole piece and running with it. But it seems to me to be GONE much fast when I crush it than leaving it whole.

You can use dried cat food or fish pellets the same way!

Cool. Another use for Ol' Roy. I have a half a bag left now that I stopped feeding it to my dog. I've been feeding it to my turtle. I'll now give it to my crickets and roaches, too.

I just think that it is about time that the dogs start fending for themselves. I'm tired of spending my hard earned money on food while they sit around and do nothing!

Actually, it is because I switched them to a higher grade of food.

Nice! I've been meaning to give it a try, too. Sometimes it's just hard for me to get around to doing things. You're an inspiration. I think I'm going to have to go buy a container like that now.

I just figured it all out. It is quite simple and inexpensive. You could start a colony with only 100 adult crickets (although more can be better).

Heres a page that I used and works to perfection,
(it is not mine or do I intend it to be mine) just in case something comes up about copyright. LOL.

Nice, looks like ya have it all together.
The most important thing to remember is to make sure the adult crickets are keep at temps in th 80's or they will not lay.

Also make sure you get the males out of the lay box as soon as you think they have had enough time to lay. The males dig the eggs up and eat them

Good luck, it helps so much to breed your own. BELIEVE ME

Looking good!
