Raising American Bullfrogs in Asia

turtlesong Dec 12, 2004 05:01 AM

Hi,

I have two bullfrogs and they're getting quite big. Should I seperate them?

They also seem quite active and jump out of the tank sometimes. What's the best sized tank for full-grown bullfrogs? How often should I feed these fellas to keep them less fat too?

I wonder if I should let them go. But I don't think they're native to Asia. I'm an American in Taiwan. These frogs, I believe, are American bullfrogs. I think they raise them here because they eat them. They also feed them to fish.

Whatever you do, do NOT let them go. Introduced species are a HUGE problem all over the world and bullfrogs usually eat whatever can fit into their mouths.
As for cage size, I believe that they need a larger cage because they can jump so well(as you can tell with them jumping out of their cage already :-D). You can probably keep them together, as long as they are a similar size(I had a green frog and a male bullfrog together for years, they were very similar in size and had no problems).
But please, whatever you do, if your not completely sure what species it is(espeically if you think they're american bullfrogs)do NOT let them go!!
