new female borneo blood python

ianscottgrant Dec 12, 2004 02:20 PM

Hello everyone

I am from the Uk and have wanted a blood python for some time now. I managed to track one down in the UK from a breeder and bought a female who is 6 months old.

I am just asking for some advice on taming her and what to expect. She endured an hours car journey from the breeders to my house and was rather fiesty when i let her out of the pillow case which is just as i expected. That was on thursday just gone i have been advised to leave her for at least a week before attempting feeding. Her cage is a 3'x 2' x 18" viv set up with a heat gradient of 92 down to 80 with hides on either side of the temp gradient.

She soon dissapeared into the moss tray and has been in there evere since. Although she has been venturing out at night as i have found her wanding the cage when the lights have been out.

I am just asking when i should start to handle her and what the best sort of timescale and frequency to calm her down.

Any tips or advice would be very gratefully recieved.

Thank you very much in advance for any advice given.

Hi
I would recommend reading Kara from Nerds Blood rant here.
http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2 viewtopic-t-2706.html
Which will give you plenty of useful info.
Sounds like your viv is a little on the large side, bloods like
to feel secure, and may feel a bit lost in a 3ft viv.
ps Is she from Snakebreeder??

Good luck
