hey every one, i dont know how meny of you use this substrait, or have thought about it. but i work at a major petstore chain, and we got an email today. it sais that ESU crushed walnut shell litter bedding should absolutly under no surcomstance be used unless there is a screen ontop of it. its almost 100% a death wish for any reptile that eats it. so i thought id let you all know just incase your using it.

thanks. I found that out the hard way. Nobody died, I was able to catch it quick and switched. Also, that stuff made marks on my snow corn snake. It kept getting walnut shell color streaks on his scales. Not good stuff @ all!

really? my best friend has used it on his snakes for about 8 years now, and has not had one prob. ive been using it for my beardies, and uros, but thats ganna change tomarrow.

yep! didn't seem to cause any health prob for the snake, but who wants an all white snow with brown streaks??? Leos didn't eat well and I noticed the same color start to rub off on their toes. They really didn't seem to like it much either under their feet.

doesn't having a screen over top your substrate kind of defeat the purpose of having it? If they can't touch the stuff, why even bother putting it there?

yeah, i agree. having a screen over it, will still give it the softness, and texture. but i do agree, its pointless.
