heat tape safety?

I currently keep my leo's in 20g tanks but was thinking of building a rack so I could get more leo's and save room. I just wanted to know if heat tape is safe and if anyone could post pics of there racks for some ideas

Sorry I have no pics. I really like heat tape and when put together correctly I see it safer than some store bought UTH.
