Update on Stevie (from Mystical Dragons)...

veronicag Dec 13, 2004 12:30 PM

Some of you might remember that back in August 2004 we helped Matthew at Mystical Dragons with a very special, sight impaired beardie named Stevie. The day Stevie came into our home will never be forgotten. He is so very special I am having trouble finding the words to describe it.

Stevie's eye condition hasn't improved or worsened since we received him. He can eat crickets just fine as long as we put them in front of his mouth, one at a time, with tweezers. And he's very familiar with where to find the food dish.

I just wanted to share some photos of Stevie that were taken last week. I hope they turn out ok because my digital camera was damaged in a motorcycle accident a few months back. But the darn thing still works!

Stevie has recently decided that he likes to sleep and play in his bran box. Here he is, typical Stevie, peeking out at me as I snap a picture. Just moments after the photo was taken, he leaped out of the box and licked the glass over where I had been taking his picture. He's such a character.

This photo really shows Stevie's true color. If you have ever seen any of Matthew's dragons, you'd know that this amount of color in a dragon is not uncommon. And it keeps getting more brilliant with every shed.

And here's Stevie in his second favorite spot - the food dish! For a sight impaired beardie, he sure knows where to go for the grub.

Thanks again Matthew for letting us help you with such an amazing beardie. His personality more than makes up for his sight problem.

Oh Thanks so much for sharing pics of my boy Stevie I'm so glad you had a spot for him there. I'm so happy the first person I went to for a home took my special boy in. I knew I could not ask for a more loving, and caring home then there with you two. Thanks so much for keeping me updated, and sharing Stevie's life with me. It was a hard decision letting him go as I hand fed him, and cared for him one on one since he hatched, but seeing him there doing so good I know I made the right decision for him. Oh and he is such a character. You just have to love the little guy. Even when he mistakes fingers for giant superworms I couldn't do anything but laugh, and love him even more. Thanks for sharing Veronica and give little Stevie a belly rub from his old pop.

Veronica,

We have a little Lawson's Dragon that is sight impaired too. He has improved some over the 9 months we have had him, we think with him it is eye muscles and he has to move his head back and forth to zero in on the circkets... and still misses them some, so we put them in a bowl and he climbs in the bowl to get 'em

I am so glad to see the little guy with you and doing well
*hugs*
