Before I get excited has anyone ever seen...

Ben@ARC Dec 13, 2004 01:40 PM

A carpet loose pigment in it's scales? When one of my young adult male jungles shed today it revealed a patch of about 60 scales or so, that have changed color. The changed scales vary from off white to light mottled grey. There are about 7-10 mostly off white scales, and the rest range toward grey.
At first it looked like he had just crawled through some urea or something and it was smeared on him. But it won't wipe off. Upon closer inspection it looks to me like the scales have just changed color.

I had a borneo blood one time that did this same thing. It started with just a few white scales, and the condition gradually spread. However, I wasn't clever enough to keep that snake. I found the white scales ugly and sold it for a couple of hundred dollars. A friend later aquired the snake and last I heard it was mostly white. You can imagine how I feel about that.

So anyway this could be the same thing, it could be nothing, maybe nobody cares. I don't know- I am just looking for opinions, and if anyone has seen anything like this. I will post a pic of it asap.
Thanks for looking-Ben

ive heard of it happening with some snakes. it isnt a common thing but it does happen. of course the people that have had it happen to their snakes say that they go back to the original color within a couple years.
