I have a couple questions about Varanus timorensis timorensis

Randall_Turner Dec 13, 2004 04:10 PM

I have kept reptiles for the better part of 2 decades, (including some limited experience with monitor species) and I have seriously gotten interested in Timor monitors. From what I have been able to gather care wise they require a fairly high hot spot (in the 130 degree range) and ambients around mid 80s. Other then basic enclosure requirements (they will be kept in either a 4x3x2 as a pair or separately in 3x2x2 enclosures) Are they capable of being kept communally, or it is more prefered to keep separate except for breeding? Also what is a balanced diet for them? I have read a few care sheets regarding them, but none I have found show a good diet regimen.

I appreciate any input on this, and thank you in advance.

I kept a reverse trio with no problems what so ever. So I don't think they would have a problem with more animals. I didn't have them long enough to breed them so can't help you there. They will eat anything that moves!
