One more question..

I can't see my regular vet until Thursday, but my impacted leo is still very bloated. When you look at his stomache now though, it is full of a water/sand mixture that looks like it should be very easy to pass but he hasn't yet. He had passed the large obstruction that showed up in the xray last night. So, I'm hoping the water/sand will just come out soon?

are you still doing the warm baths? that should help pass it. have you tried the other stuff? mineral oil? maybe a little massage would encourage him, unless it just makes him more uncomfortable.

The vet said that mineral oil wasn't really a good idea with the laxatives he's on. But the lactulose is what has been making him bloated and full of water. This morning I woke up to very good news actually. Last night, I had soaked him for 15 minutes, then gave him his medications. His entire belly was one big water balloon, that was separated into two sections. This morning a lot of the swelling had gone down, and there was a lot of dried sand on the paper towel. Now there is just one little bubble of water/sand. And when I had been picking him up to look at him these past few days, he was so limp. But today, he's full of life and when I picked him up, he wrapped his tail around my hand like he used to. I haven't tried feeding him in 2 days, just because he had been throwing it up before. So, today, I put 2 very small mealworms in with him, and he is eyeing them, so hopefully he'll eat soon.
I'm actually trying to avaoid taking him to vet at this point, because of money mostly (I just paid $200 on Sunday), but the other big reason is that I live in Buffalo, NY. It just snowed a whole lot last night and the temperatures are like 15 degrees and dropping. The vet I take my iguana to is quite a drive, and I don't even want to chance it if he's getting better. So, I'm going to keep him on close observation until Friday.

didn't realize he was on laxatives already. just give the meds as told, and give him space and time.
