invi Jul 02, 2003 04:27 PM

hi, well im new to this board but i have recently purchased a gecko
and i have a few questions i wanna ask..

1st. when my chameleon sheds its skin he manages to eat its shed, is this the same way with geckos because ive had my gecko maybe a month already and have yet to see it shed. it eats fine and drinks water and everything but sometimes i see him get opaque but then i never really see him shedding could there be something wrong?

2nd. the calcium source what do u guys recomend, i have some repivite which is calcium mixed with other vitamins can i use this as his calcium sorce or can i just dust the mealworms?

well i guess this is it for now.
thanks for anyone who can helpe
bye

Yes, leos eat their shed so you dont need to worry about that. I use miner-all for my leos calcium. I keep that in their tank at all times and I dust with a mixture of that and some cricket dust from t-rex.

Yes Geckos eat their shed skin usually.. Sometimes when they've just eaten a big meal they won't.. but most times they do. What you want to do is get a calcium powder with no mixed vitamins.. like Fluker's Repta-Calcium... Or something similar.. You can dust the crickets/mealies with the vitamin powder once every other feeding or so.. at least thats how I do it with my adults.. every feeding for my hatchlings.

The reason you never see the leo shed is because it is shedding when you are not there and is eating the skin as it goes along.
I think that Miner-all is the best supplement to use for leos.
