I have been keeping a ball for the last 2 years, but this year is my first attempt at breeding. i have read everything i can find about breeding, but still have a question.
I've read a lot about the cool down period prior to breeding being very important, but i am unsure how to go about this. here is how i currently keep them heated. I have one large UTH on one side of the cage, with a hide directly above it. directly above this hide i keep a heat lamp. the temp is about 80-85 on the hot side of the cage and the temp is about 75-80 on the cool side. i turn the heat lamp off at night now, due to cool down period, but i turn it back on in the morning. i am trying to keep the humidity up in the cage, but it has a screen top so this is a constant battle.
i have observed two seperate incidents of copulation since i introduced the male to the female's cage, but i am a little worried that i am not maintaining the needed temps to inspire my girl to become gravid.
any advice and/or recommendations?
tnx.
