Beak trimming question for 3 toed

D Goudie Dec 14, 2004 11:10 AM

Hi Guys;

I just got a new adult female 3-toed that was in
dire need of nail clipping & beak trimming. The nails Ive managed to clip relatively incident free, however What has to be done with the beak?? It's not grossly over or under shot but the top portion looks pretty jagged around the edges & could do with some trimming & filing.

Any pointers at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dean

well my advise wont be a quick fix but it will help if you decide to go with it,
feed the turtle on a hard surface like a peice of roofing slate or a rock, spread the food out so she has to chase it a bit and bit closer to the hard surface, this will wear her beak and keep her nails short.. or you could just go to a vet.

I'll give that a try but in the meantime I might attempt to use a emory board on her. Do you give your turtles cuttlebone?? I hard that helps as well.
