boa struck glass..

BRYAN139 Dec 14, 2004 11:22 AM

She did it like 3 times before I was able to get to a towel and cover the tank to calm her down. She just freaked out when I walked by. Anyway, now I notice looking at her the bottom left front corner of her jaw looks folded up slightly. Will this reset into position on it's own? Does she need a vet or will a good yawn when she relaxes realign it?

I wouldn't worry about it, it has happened to us all, many many times, ive had little ones do this and big 8 footers do the same and the worst thing seems to be the fright it puts into us, especially when its a big boa that hits the glass with its mouth wide open and you know it would hurt like crazy if there was no glass there. just keep a eye out for any abnormalities on the boas jaw, they are tough animals, and everything should be ok.

good luck
steve

That will happen from time to time but it always fixes itself pretty quick. Maybe she's hungry and thats why she's doing that.

HOPE THIS HELPS,

It was actually right after a feeding that she went crazy. But it's the first time this has happened with one of mine. Thanks for the input.

They get their "lip" hooked on their teeth. At least that is what sometimes happens to me. In my case she has a real hard time getting her "lip" off of the tiny curved teeth...

She really thinks she is mean, as mean and nasty as a 22" snake can be, lol.

Good luck
Bob
