where to put thermostat probe??

itsazoo Dec 14, 2004 01:22 PM

I just got a thermostat for my UTH...my question is would it be better to put the probe inside the humid hide (rubbermaid bowl) or on the surface outside the hide? The reason I ask is that keeping the surface outside at about 95 has been leaving the inside of the hide about 10 degrees cooler. So is is best to have it a little warm outside the hide or a little cool inside?

I keep my outside the humid hide. I like to keep the substrate about 90 to 92. I feel that anything warmer would be too hot for them. I'd rather it be a little cooler in the hide, than too hot for them out of it. Not sure what the pros say, but mine seem to be happy!

I would do it from the highest temperature point. Surface temp should not exceed 95, but I like the air temp right near the bottom around 90.
