Bearded Dragon off feed HELP!!!!

98expo Dec 14, 2004 03:52 PM

Hello, I am actually posting this for my neighbors son. He purchased a young Beardie in Oct. He was eating great until about a week ago when he seemed to lose interest in food altogether. He appears healthy to me(but I am a snake keeper). He seems to have a proper setup with basking spots and proper temps. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this problem with feeding and any possible suggestions. If there is any more info I can collect from him to let you pros better help, feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hi

without more information it is kinda tough to say what might be going on with the little guy.

Basics are important in determining the cause of loss of appetite. What size tank is he in? what are the temp highs and lows? How old is the BD? what has he previously been eating? Does he have UVB light? What kind of supplementation has been tried?

If you can find out this info it will help emensly!

Ok, I talked to my neighbors son and got the specifics you asked for. He does not know exact age but says it was between 4"-6" when he got him in Oct. He is currently around 8". It is housed in a 29L glass aquarium. He has a UVB light on one end, he didnt know his temps (tsk, tsk). I checked them with my handy dandy temp gun and his temps(daytime when I was there) were mid to upper 90's at one end and mid to low 70's on other end. He said up until a few days ago he was on a varied diet of crickets, wax worms, mealworms, and greens. Hopefully this gives you enough info. to help the little guy, if not ask and you shall recieve(if possible). Thanks in advance for any and all help recieved.
