Burm not eating! Help!

savvgawd Dec 14, 2004 05:52 PM

Well this comes as a huge surprised to me and does worry me a bit. It's my yearling male whos had an upper R.I. for a few months. The reason it surprises me is because he ate all throughout the worst times of his RI anytime food was offered. Now that he finally seems to show improvment, he won't eat. He seems to be loosing weight but shows great signs of recovery and is very active. My only guess is that it's the new antibiotics hes on. The anitbiotic is called Amikacin and he recieves .5 cc's every 3 days. Is anyone familiar with this antibiotic or if it has an effect on appetite? I'm not worried about force feeding his yet since his last meal was on 11/30 but it is becoming a concern. Thanks for any input in advance!

If you feed him f/t, then try a live rat or chick. He looks to be a good weight, so I would be worried about it until he gets to the 2-3 month point.
