Arboreal or Terrestrial

SerpentSyco Dec 14, 2004 06:07 PM

I just thought that it would be interesting to see how many people use an arboreal setup for there corn snake and how many people use a terrestrial setup for there corn snake. And why you prefer or use that setup. So pretty much a debate of which one is better. I house mine in a terrestrial setup not an arboreal setup. Besides my corns don't even climb that often.

i have an amel and a ghost. both housed in 20 gallon long tanks. my amel likes her half log. she will set on top of that mostly at night. my ghost will occasionally crawl about his fake branch thing. otherwise they are basically terrestrial.

For my 42" female I have her in a 20H with two large pieces of drift wood that take up ver little floor space but give her a large climbing/lounging area. So it is a mix of both. She spends the vasty majority of her time on the ground but definently makes use of the wood and will occasionally spend a few hours chillen on it.

I have a mix of low and taller vivs. Depends on the individual - some spend all of their time at the higer levels, whereas one in a tallker viv has never been seen off the ground. Usually they like the opportunity to climb, but some don't. It's a useful form of exercise for them but I don't feel that its vital as those in the lower vivs do just as well as the ones with climbing equipment.
