I don't know if anyone has e-mailed you directly on this but I have kept KSBs in same sex pairs off and on for the past eight years and never had any trouble. I have kept my pairs in sweaterboxes or half height 15g aquariums (2ft x 1ft floor space) so I would think the cage size you mentioned would be fine for a group of four. There are several arguments against keeping animals in groups (disease transmission, stress, etc.) but, as I said, I have not had any problems. I do separate animals at feeding time and if you are talking about keeping males and females together I would plan on babies. Which could be another argument against the group in that if you have more than one male you will not know who the sire of the litter is but that may not be an issue with you. If you do plan on keeping males and females together I would suggest being sure they are mature before you put them together. If not, they may breed early and that could be stressful on the female. All those things considered, however, it is certainly possible to keep KSbs in a group as you suggested. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

I have read many people saying they keep KSB together with no problems.
I have heard some say they can be cannibals but they never actually experienced this themselves its just second hand info.
I have a single male and saw another male diff color that I would like to add(20 gallon long tank).
Problem is this combo would be two males no F. What do you think?. Ofcourse both same size give or take inch and would be fed seperate.
Thanks.

The pairs that I keep together are same sex pairs (2 females together and 2 males together) and I have not had any problems. That is not to say that I couldn't run into problems tomorrow; just that I haven't had any so far (off and on for 8 years). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Wow 8 yrs thats great. Yes I know there is no gauarantee and I could wind up with a cannibal sand boa.
I never heard of cannibalism in this group from first hand experience just people who heard from others, etc.
Thanks again.

I've kept 2 normals and 2 anerys together for about 2 years now. No problems at all. Definately separate to feed though.
The main draw back (if you care) was mentioned earlier. You don't know who the father is unless it turns out anery. If that is a problem, don't do it. Here is what happened this year.
Anery female had 12 babies, 10 of which were normals. The normal female had 23 babies, 11 of which were anery. It came as a surprise that the normal female was a het. The year before she had all normals. As proven by my anery female, a litter of babies can have more than one father, because the normal male is 100% normal...no het anything.
I've collected several holdbacks from the previous litters that are "normal" in appeance. I have no way of knowing if they are het for anery. This may bother you or not.

Great looking anery pic. I am not going to breed them just keeping two males so thats not an issue for me.
Thanks for the info. Just glad keeping two together is possible.
The tank is roomy so space isnt an issue.
