how big do the get? i think it is 10-12 inches from nose to tip of tail, but they are mostly tail. and they don't get very wide, i guess about 45 grams?

how big a cage do they need? as big as you can get, mine live in 26Lx24Wx18T

how active are they? i think that that are a very active breed. mine also live in screen reptariums because they love climbing the sides, they really use every inch.

are they easy to breed? some say it takes brumation but my guys did it last year without it. it is really nerve wracking but not really difficult.

how do you breed them? i like to play romantic songs and light them some candle

how many crickets do they eat and when? mine eat about 5-8 crickets daily in the winter and more like 10-12 daily in the summer, they love to eat

what types and what colors do they come in? i think the website is mountainboomer.com there are lots of pretty pictures there

how much are they? it depends but a good captive bred could be like $40?

how can you tell a male from a female? males have larger pores by their vents and they usually have spottier chins, once you learn it is easy to tell

how long do they live? i know someone has one going on nine years. i have had ivan for 2 and 2 months.

do they eat veggies? not really, i dropped a piece of escarole once to see what they would do and kaiser attacked it but i think he thought he was in danger. none have eaten any since.

they are a great lizard and i think you own uros so you should do well owning collareds. they are the first lizard i ever owned and i have never regretted it.

ivan when she was pregnant, note that is a heat rock but it is not plugged in

www.mountainboomer.com/boomer.htm for the collared lizard stuff. It only covers C. collaris, though. I also mirror wwwwwwwwwwwwwwells' site, www.mountainboomer.com/crotaphytus, and he has all the species there.

The "nit-picking" I refer to in my subject line is that it's COLLARED lizard, pertaining to the collars around the lizards' necks, not COLLARD, which would imply an affinity for grean leafy vegetables.

Also, it's HAWAII (technically, Hawai'i). If you are a Hawaiian resident, you might have trouble obtaining a collared lizard legally. I seem to recall the laws being very strict regarding keeping captive herps there.

Snakes there all together. Hawaii is very strict on reptile imports.

Hi.
They are quite active lizards, mine is always running & jumping the length, width & height of her tank (an old 40gal breeder - 47Lx29Wx19H). I'd say the bigger you can get the better. They love to run & jump, so I often feel that Jimmie's tank s too small for her.
They are also little porkers. In the warmer months, Jimmie eats upwards of 2 dozen small crickets a day... lately however, I'm lucky to get her to eat 3 crickets a week! (anyone have ideas why?)
They come in really great colors & patterns (blues, yellow w/aqua or blue, shades od brown with gavid females showing red or orange... this site's photo gallery should also have a nice selection of pictures showing off their different color-schemes ...).
Enjoy!!
