Corucia Compatability.

GTPs-N-Blueys Dec 14, 2004 07:08 PM

I have a single juvenile Corucia but I was wondering how I would find a compatible friend. I don't no what sex he is, so should I go with a definite female? How do find out if theyd like each other before making a purchase? Thanks!

Hi,
Bubba is beautiful. That is a very interesting color on his/her head. Unless you know the person you are buying your next skink from, you are probably not going to get a chance to see if bubba is compatable with it. It would be best to go with a female, but since bubba is young, it doesn't really matter as much. It would be best if you could find another skink that is fairly young as well, as young skinks generally bond better than older ones. If you wanted, you could try getting an older female, as I have heard of older females adopting young Corucia as their own. Check Bubba's cloaca when it is defecating as males sometimes partially evert their hemipenes during defecation. This would be the easiest and least stressful method of determining sex, though it may not be successful. Hope this helps some, jrbl

I think you have first to find out whether your baby (what a cute monkey tail you have!)is a boy or a girl.Sometimes you can find out their gender observing them when they poop.Thats how i found out i have 2 boys.
It seems that 2 adult males mts cannot be caged together because they will fight.I keep my 2 males in diferent cages. My males hate each other and i know they will chase each other and fight if i let both free roam in the house at the same time.

Flavia, I do not think you have ever posted a picture of Rafeal, but I may be incorrect. Leonardo is a very cute boy. You should get a couple of girls for your boys(though it may get a little crowed with Trex, Thor, the trib, and any other animals you may have). I have seen some markets for Monkey-tailed skinks in Thialand, so maybe they have some in India. It does not get too hot for them there does it? Hope you and your boys are having fun, jrbl

Hi !!I have plenty of photos of Rafael but not many of them together because they will attack each other if they have the opportunity. But i have some that i can post here (now that you asked i have an excuse, lol!!!)The problem is that my scanner is still in the boxes that arrived from Malaysia!!

Both Leonardo and Rafael are doing great in New Delhi (India) but they have been confined --just like my other reptiles --in a winter room where the temp is kept at 80F.Outdoors the temp can drop until 50 during the night!

I would like to buy another MTS, a confirmed female, but i didnt find any to be sold in Malaysia and in India its impossible only to think about that! When i bought Rafael i had the hope that he was a female because he shared with Leonardo the same petshop cage without fights for several months! But my hope disappeared the first time i saw him pooping!lol!

All my other reptiles are doing great. The trib is ok, the leo gecko, the beardie, the uros, all adjusted very well to New Delhi.I only had problems with my iguanas that refused to eat, to poop and to pee for several days after our arrival here!

The photo below was taken in Malaysia. You can see my uros and one of my iguanas, TREX.
