(DFR)I've watched the moral climate in this country degenerate for over fifty years. I have little hope of the trend reversing. The people who support this are the same hypocrites who support the right-wing politicians who talk about morality, while forcing the less affluent in our country, and in the rest of the world, into desperation.
(ME)I agree with some of what you're saying. Would like a bit more definition though:
1. In what ways has the moral climate degenerated ?
2. How is it that the right wingers are forcing the less affluent in our country, and in the rest of the world, into desperation ?
(DFR)These are for the most part, people who if they get their toys, ignore who must suffer for it. They're also easy to persuade to vote for the concept. They line up like mindless beings, gorging themselves on platitudes, and playing follow-the-leader. It is revolting. It is a coalition of pseudo-moralists, jerks who think they're going to get rich, idiots who resent free-thinkers, and also some downright dangerous nuts, which may force the United States into either anarchy, or a police state.
(ME) Are you assigning blame to a political party ? To capitalism ? To a religion ? To people with too much money who did little or nothing to actually earn it ?
(DFR)Forty years ago, it looked like my generation just might make some changes. Too bad though, we sold out for split-level homes, Rolexes, and BMWs. It's beginning to look like it will take major upheaval to turn the United States away from the idea that the acquisition of wealth, and therefore the justification of doing anything to make it happen, is the focus of existence.
(ME) Not sure, but sounds like you're saying we're all just too rich and too lazy ? If my interpretation is correct, I partially agree. I'm not rich and I worked (and work) for the money I make. I put myself in debt going to school (recently paid THAT off) so I could GET a better job. Nothing was handed to ME. Anybody else in this country has the same options I had. There ARE the lazys who rip the system, the trust fund kids who get handed nicer cars than I've EVER owned, at 16 and a lot of bums. Whose fault are these things ?
(DFR)Canada is looking better and better. It's getting to look like it may be time for a move to the Great White North. I'd surely miss the Redwoods growing down to the beach, what's left of them, that is. The preceding is an example of why I try to stay off this forum.
(ME)Can't really totally agree or disagree with you. If you DO go to Canada let us know if things are better there, maybe we'll follow you.
