arpeet1 May 15, 2003 05:05 PM

1 I have a female that laid her first two eggs ever about 3 weeks ago and nothing since I dont see any eggs in her at all She is 50 grams and kept with the male SO what could be the problem?

2 I also have two female carrot tails that this is there second season to breed and so far the two clutches I have gotten from them are collapsed already when they are laid. They are laid in the humid lay box but just collapsed so what am I doing wrong I am begining to feel like such a failure HAHA

I am not a experienced breeder in any asspect but i have breed this season and hatched out a healthy gecko so i guees i'm doin something right!

1) If this is her first time breeding she may be done and you can try again in a little while(not posotive on that) but if it is not you may want to take her out (if she is in a group) and reintroduce her to the male and let them breed again. Other than that i have no idea.

2) Try to keep the egg box moist at all times and what i have found to work best is bed-a-beast. They might not have been fertile either.

If she is younger then she may only lay the one clutch. Sometimes they lay clutches in one month intervals. That is the normal (28 days)

I agree with what everyone else has said on the first problem. THe second problem sounds like the Cts aren't getting enough calcium or the eggs weren't fertile. If they don't have enough calcium they won't hold up. Another thing is even if they are dented PUT THEM IN THE INCUBATOR. Doesn't matter how dented if they are fertile and not cracked they will suck up the humidity in the incubator and dedent Almost before your eyes. Good luck

well I had my females take five weeks roughly before I got my second clutches this year. Then 3 weeks, then 4 weeks, now they are on 2 week lays. Don't know what the deal was. I noticed a few other messages about long lay periods this year???? If the eggs are dented when you find them get them in the incubator and cover them in their dish with a damp paper towel in with them they will plump back up in a day or so.
