Does anyone have any info on what happened to the tricolor monitor? I remember when a bunch came in at the same time the Yellows started showing up. I haven't seen any since. Do they still import them? Just curious. thanks.

Theirs seems to be a group of peoples (Wolf’s) who’s favourite pastime involve naming new species after they acquired many breeders, in theory this makes there animals very valuable, as the indo governments don’t issue CITES to monitors for witch they don’t recognise nomenclature, this is why jobiensis are still exported under karlshmithi and doreanus= kalabeck, prasinus= kordensis. Where this group of peoples messed up! Is they failed to breed them.
Mine are doing good and you can be sure they will never see Europe!
Ps. Frank yowonoi (animal dealer) sold his group long ago, he had nothing to do with the discovery of this specie. now if the indo government would have been consulted in the naming process, perhaps export permits who’d be issued?
Find who names them and you will know who keeps us from having them.
They come in but in small numbers. They then are dispersed out into the hobby. I have seen very few people keeping pairs. I have seen more of them kept singly.
They are a very shy species and do not seem to acclimate very well, or haven't made it into the right hands. Most I knew about are no longer existing. I am sure there are still a few out there.
I have seen one lately in Robert Sprackland's collection but it is not kept well (and yes i told him that). He keeps it 'textbook,' and in my experience that is not always best.
Never the less, its a gorgeous monitor, i just think it is really too bad.
cheers, andrew
My vet has a client who keeps a yuwonoi. Apparently he got it a few years back and only keeps one.
