My buddy passed today

BigFil Dec 15, 2004 04:27 PM

I have'nt been on here in a while but today my 1.5 yr old dragon Smeagol passed away today. A couple of months ago Smeagol started losing some weight and was pooping about once a week. After numerous visits to our regular vet and after that to the vet Melissa Kaplan uses for her reptiles we were not able to figure out what was going on with him. Blood work, x-rays, and fecals all came back clean and he seemed fine in every way except for the weight loss. At his largest he was 19in and weighed 485grams but was down to 425grams and holding for the last month. Unfortunately with the vet bills stacking up and the holidays I am not able to afford the 250 bux for a necropsy which is the only way to possibly know for sure what happened.

Smeagol was the most tame and friendly BD who just loved to be held by anyone including small children. He will be dearly missed by my family and his counterpart Gollum my other BD. I've attached a picture of Gollum and Smeagol when they were babies and still housed together.

FYI, Smeagol is the one on the left in the picture.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's hard to lose a pet. I feel for you.

Always sad to read these kind of posts, never gets easier, always such a shame.

He and Gollum are very beautiful dragons, love the baby pic of them both.
I'm sure you and your family will surely miss him, and his kind disposition.

And hope you will all feel better soon.

Hang in there , he's in great hands as I always tell myself when I lose a critter friend , hes happy and healthy now, and will never be sick again

Take Care,

I remember reading your posts about Smeagol and Gollum. I'm so sorry you lost Smeagol. And it makes it even harder when you don't know the cause. It sounds like you did everything you could to save him. You're in our thoughts and prayers. Take care and don't blame yourself.
