Check out my vent!

This is the vent I might use on the cage. Its 16"x8". There is a screen across the back too that overlaps every 1/8". You think this is overkill for a 4x2x18 cage? They make them in 8"x4" as well, but for some reason the big one is cheaper.
I was gonna put this big one across the back, or put 2 on the sides if I go with the 8"x4"s.
I think it would be ok, since i have her in a 20L with a screen top now and she sheds OK and stuff.
Anyway, I started to buy the wood for my cage tonight. I got 2 smaller panels for the sides. They are cabinet grade birch so I thought I'd grab them instead of using other wood for the bottom.

um... yeah. lol. very much so. it will work, you will just need a lot higher powered heating source with a vent that big. in my 2x4x2 cages (w x l x d) i have one 4.5 inch vent in one side of it. Then there are the cracks around the doors which will provide additional ventilation.

the reason the bigger ones are so much cheaper is due to the fact the bigger ones are commonly used in houses, so there are many more produced, and the more bought at a time means the cheaper they are. simple as that.
