Using parazap to treat parasites, story (longer) and questions.

pepe15 Dec 16, 2004 01:43 AM

i have not posted in a long time, just been reading but now i have some questions.
i have two dragons who have been dealing with a coccidia and pinworm infecton. dragon 1-koda, is about 460g and 22in long a subadult/adult male. dragon 2- zeus, is about 405-410g 17in subadult male or female? they both went to the vet several weeks ago and had a fecal done, found pinworms and high levels of coccidia in both. both were treated with albon and a dewormer (sorry, don't know the name). on their follow up fecals, which were taken a bit later than they should have been showed the same levels of pinworms and coccidia. so we decided to try parazap to expel the parasites this time. we are into week two of two daily doses to each lizard of the tea-3cc each due to their size. zeus, is doing much better, his poo is back to normal-smell is almost gone, going once a day and his activity level and appetite is greatly increased. koda, seemed to be getting better...poo was getting more solid, was going more often, until tonight...and this is what worries me-he went poo (a really bad one) in his hide about two hours after lights went out. never seen or heard of this happening before and wanted to see what you guys thought to do next. has anyone used parazap successfully to treat parasite infections?

some basic info: temps are 113ish to 75 in their cages, they both of mercury vapor bulbs (within 12in of basking spot), substrate is shelf liner, get dusted crickets daily with repical supps, gets salad daily of various mustard/collard greens and squash. both are still gaining weight though, we have been checking.

thanks in advance for any help.

hi
i have good results with parazap.
if i treat a animal who have pinworms then i wil give it 7 days long then 7 days no tea and then 7 days again tea.
i weight beardies and 100 gram beardie i give 1 cc atleast and 300 gram dragon i give 3 cc and 500 gram beardie 5 cc like that.
1/4 t spoon in a cup with 2/3 water and then stear it once a while tils its cooled of.
then i pour it trough a coffe filter so no fibers r left.
i use it in combination with a parrot handfeeding powder they use for babie parots who just come out a eggs.
then is in every thing even the good bacterias .
the good bacterias r ofthend forgotten by people they r killed by the medicine you use against cocodiose /coccidia.
you can also buy them in capsules put powder whats in capsule in some water and give that to youre beardie.
you can buy them in a human healthstore under name probiotics , achidophulus , bacsils
i have now alreayd 3 years no parasite here so parazap is working fine.
before that i got 1 1/2 year full with misery for me the panacure not workt good and it came back every time.
also panacure and flagyl killed the good bacteria so my beardie good not digest .
hope this helps .
good luck with youre beardies .
