My vote for most delusional quote of the year, considering the source...

"...it appears to be common practice among wildlife agencies to place species in a hands off 'protected' status when they suspect the species are having problems. Seems reasonable but it really isn't IF YOU TRULY UNDERSTAND POPULATION DYNAMICS."

Talk about a lack of self awareness! Can anyone say overcompensation for repressed feelings of intellectual inadequacy? lol.

Bah--the same could be said of people who feel the need to put "PhD" as part of their screen names.

TimothyVPhD,
It is not clear why you chose this forum rather than respond to my post that appeared on the Venomous Crotalidae forum. Since this forum is for 'Field Notes & Observations', I believe a discussion of conservation issues is not appropriate.

The wording I used may have been at fault. My e-mail address is charinabottae@earthlink.net Let me know what it is that you either do not understand or with which you do disagree. Perhaps I can clarify my position. Below is the entire paragraph that seems to be at issue.

"With rare exception, species can withstand some take (collecting) provided nothing is interfering with reproduction. It appears to be common practice among wildlife agencies to place species in a hands off 'protected' status when they suspect the species are having problems. Seems reasonable but it really isn't if you truly understand population dynamics."

What Doctoral degree could you have earned? Clearly, you resort to ridicule and name calling, whereas a man of science would argue his point clearly in an effort to state his opinion. Your post either indicates you are immature or ignorant.

I nominate your post as the most meaningless post of 2004.

Dr. Tim(id),

Thankyou so much for finally posting your weighty thoughts on these complex matters. I and numerous others, have lost sleep wondering when you might again contribute your considerable insight to the forum....

Jason,
Nice series of photos above.

Despite my offer to PhD TimothyV, he hasn't responded so that pretty much speaks for itself.

Thanks Richard..
It seems there are pseudo PhD's everywhere wanting to show the world just how intelligent they are. Seems to me they are the ones with a feeling of inadequacy. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone actually gets out and actually herps anymore or is it just a "look at me how smart I am" on the internet contest. No wonder the rest of the world see's us as a bit odd...Band Camp must have been really traumatic for these guys.
Merry Christmas,
Jason

PhD.....Piled Higher and Deeper? I appreciate it when people go to the trouble to get their PhD's but it doesnt always make them more intelligent, or even more experienced than half of the researchers I know. Oh well, such is the way of the world.
