yellowfoot question

My female yellow foot has been clicking with her mouth the last couple days...mostly at night....anyone have a idea.
Also i have been using shavings for a substrate but am in the process of buiding a reptile room and they will have a large section of the room for themselves and was wondering what might make a good substrate...
