TODAY A NEW ORDINENCE THAT WAS INTRODUCED TO THE PEKIN CITY COUNCIL BANNING ALL REPTILES AND LIMITING THE NUMBER OF CATS AND DOGS WAS REWRITTEN TO ONLY INCLUDE THE DOG ISSUE. THE ORDINENCE WAS INTRODUCED BECAUSE OF SEVERAL DOGS ATTACKING CHILDREN. THE REPTILE BAN WAS ADDED BY ONE COUNCIL MEMBER OUT OF PURE FEAR OF REPTILES. WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY REPTILE RELATED ISSUES CONCERNING CHILDREN OR ADULTS. THANKFULLY, LOCAL HERPERS UNITED AND PRESENTED THE COUNCIL WITH REAL FACTS AND THEY MADE AN APPROPRIATE AND INFORMED DECISION. WE SHOULD APPLAUD THE PEKIN CITY COUNCIL FOR STANDING UP FOR THE RIGHTS OF HERP LOVERS EVERYWHERE AND FOR NOT BELEIVING MISINFORMATION.
