switching from mice to rats.

My four ft ball has ben fed mice her entire life and now I would like to switch her to rats.I have offered her a live rat (shes used to eating live food),she seems interested but if the rat touched her she will back away.She is a very slow and delicate eater.Should I stun the rat first? her previouse owner feed her two mice every 10 days,last time I fedd her she got 4 mice,maybe she isn't hungry yet,its only been 12 days since she ate last.
