Humidifier and pvc pipe set up

lele Dec 16, 2004 05:15 PM

Well, I finally got Luna's misting set up - and she is loving it! She sits right in the "fog" and then laps the drops that form on her snout. This should be a much better winter...she is developing eggs again, too!

Check her out

I remember years ago they associated upper resp. infections with this type of humidity addition, but go out of them long ago, and have only recently started again, was that just nonscense??

yes, I have heard this too but b/c our air is SO dry here (NH) in the winter as soon as it is off the cage is dry - no need for it in the summer months. I am running it for one hour twice a day right now. She does like to sit under the mist directly but also moves out from it and the rest of the cage is "dry." I think if the whole cage was filled with mist and she couldn't get away it could be a problem. However, I will be on the alert for any signs of problems. thanks

You mean the piping that forms the frame? I suppose you could but I think they are a very small diameter and you would have to get different sizes to fit the humidfier and then the pipe. How would you have the mist come out? I guess you could drill small holes along the piping, but you may end up with bacteria if the pipes were not cleaned regulary due to their size. I don't have a reptarium and have only seen pix so I may be wrong on the pipe size. Maybe someone else could advise better for this.

Can you give a shot of the whole enclosure. As you know, I am looking for a humidifier for my new panther and would like to see how you have yours set up. Thanks. I will post some pics of "Titus" very soon. Email me(any one) who wants one. Giantsfan24@hotmail.com
