Holiday safety, be careful

beardiedragon Dec 16, 2004 08:28 PM

With the holidays fast approaching and decorating coming, I wanted to repost some holiday ig-rules and reptile rules. If you have ferrets, multiply the danger by 20.

1. Blinking lights can cause seizures in fish and reptiles, please do not use them around these creatures.

2. The silver foil icicles look tasty to igs. They are deadly, as they will loop the intestines and cause tissue necrosis.

3. Poinsettias, holly, mistletoe--poisonous.

4. evergreens--hard to digest and can cause internal ruptures.

5. spray snow--can cause blockage

6. trees--use common sense. secure properly. Expect them to fall. Unplug lights when you are not supervising the igs.

7. cedar trees--bad news for allergies and for igs

8. Vacuum under real trees daily to keep the needles off the floor (and out of the ig!)

9. toy trains--torture the cats and dogs with them. Igs like to poop on the moving parts, so forget about torturing igs with them! You can also use them to drive unwanted relatives out of the house due to the smoke and noise...

10. Decorations in general. Igs will taste everything!

11. fiberglass "snow"--if ingested, will cause internal bleeding and likely death! This is because it is glass and very sharp internally

Got ferrets? Nail your tree to the ceiling. You're likely to have no decorations left anyway, so might as well be weird

Special thanks to Gail Elsey for these wonderful tips and for her dedication to our scaley friends

Not only do I have reptiles, I also have a ferret, and we're going out to adopt another ferret first thing tomorrow morning!

Fortunately, I don't have many of those things, except for the tree, which is fake and only about 3 feet tall. But yeah, those critters are certainly a handful!

Yep! Wouldn't have it any other way. We got her this morning, and she is gorgeous. Real special little girl, loves to cuddle. We named her Genesis.

long time no see...

some go nuts outside. Cheri had an observasion that males seem to be more aggressive outside than do females and I would have to agree.

I have been out of it since June, lots of time in bed and in the hospital. Just starting to get back into posting on the forums again. Still need a few more tests but hoping the new year will bring new luck.

One Christmas I had received a settlement for a car wreck and bought the kids so many gifts the only way to get them under the tree was to get the tree off of the ground... LOL Sooo.,..... I nailed it to the wall so it looked like it was growing out at you and put all the gifts under it then...... It was hilarious when the kids came out asnd seen this ..... I told them Santa had so many gifts for them he had to do this to fit them all under....ROFL... guess I'm on the weird side.....LOL

Later,
Robert
