Pictures Of New Basking Area In Tank... L@@k!!

Johnstud56 Dec 16, 2004 08:29 PM

Well here it is guys! And great news.... on the top rock the basking area at the lizard height was reading 125 degrees... The other basking spot will be on the log, not as hot (only 110) but that will give them a choice, and the hides are great, I will have a small log hide on the cool end of the tank (Which is tight fitting) and then the stack of slate tiles... and the bridge can be used as a basking area as well. These 2 that im getting live together... and have for 1 year.. im so excited to get them!! Gonna finish building the cage top this weekend... Ill post new pics when they come in!! ~Johnstud56~

Something to note, maybe someone else can chime in that has more experience with these guys- I guess I've had mine for five weeks and they have no interest in climbing things at all. Before you go getting really industrious, you might wait to see how the animals deal with it. Mine seem to like open spaces, easily accessible basking spots, and low tight places to hide in.

Our Mali is part mountain goat. She climbs up speaker grills quilts the couch the grill on a fan(it was off) and a lattice shelf unit.I'll take pics of that one for ya it was interesting to say the least. We have had to make it so there nothing outside the cage higer than about 4" she can climb. She would walk to the edge of the couch cusion look over the edge and hop right off onto the floor(couch is off limits now).Sometimes it's like having kids we had to lizard proof our living room.

Our mali's like to climb, my saharan loves to climb. My brother's ex girlfriend's mali climbed the stairs *8 stairs* one time cause he likes climbing so much.

If we put the mali's down, they'll climb up the couch. So in their terrarium I have it so the sand is going up and down so they can climb all over the place, which reminds me today is the day I get to clean their cage....and Draco's (my brother's bearded dragon, she makes big messes).
